Background of Range Rover
The Rover Company, the original creator of Land Rover’s marque, was testing a larger model than its Land Rover Series model in 1951. Gordon Bashford developed the Rover P4-based two wheel-drive “Road Rover” project. It was abandoned in 1958. Spen King, Bashford and Bashford began work on a new model.
Twenty-five year after the original Range Rover was introduced, the second-generation (model designation P38A), was introduced for 1995. It is based on LWB chassis and features an updated Rover V8 engine or a 2.5-liter BMW six cylinder turbodiesel with a Bosch injector.
