Background of Mini Cooper

Charles Cooper and John Cooper founded the Cooper Car Company in December 1947. John and his boyhood friend Eric Brandon started building racing cars together in Charles’s garage in Surbiton. Surrey in England in 1946. Their single-seat, rear-engined cars were able to compete in Formula One and the Indianapolis 500. In the 1950s and 1960s, they reached the top of motor racing. The Cooper name is still present in the Cooper versions Mini of production cars, which were built in England. However, BMW now owns and markets them.
